Report: Washington may slap new sanctions on Russia in 2018
MOSCOW, Jul 27 (PRIME) -- Washington may approve a new sanctions law against Russia until the end of 2018, Bloomberg reported late on Thursday quoting Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker.
Corker said that the U.S. Congress is likely to approve the bill until the end of the year, and that he personally would like the document to be approved in a few coming months, Bloomberg reported.
On Tuesday, U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Bob Menendez said they were working on a bill to impose sanctions on Russian sovereign debt among other things. Leonid Slutsky, head of the foreign affairs committee of the Russian parliament’s lower house State Duma, said on Wednesday that Moscow would not leave the new sanctions unanswered.
